The Nets suspended Kyrie Irving indefinitely Thursday, referring to him as "unfit to be associated” with the group since he had declined to say he has no antisemitic perspectives in the week since he posted a connection on Twitter to a film with antisemitic statements.
"Such inability to repudiate discrimination against Jews whenever offered an unmistakable chance to do so is profoundly upsetting, is against the upsides of our association, and comprises direct negative to the group," the Nets said in an explanation.
Irving had declined to apologize regardless of furious backfire, however late Thursday night, hours after the Nets suspended him, he apologized in a post on Instagram.
"To Every Jewish family and Networks that are harmed and impacted from my post, I'm profoundly sorry to have caused you agony, and I am sorry," Irving said in the Instagram post.
The group said in the suspension announcement that it was "dismayed" that Irving didn't“acknowledge specific hateful material in the film.
