FIRST LOOK AT NBA SUMMER LEAGUE: EASTERN CONFERENCE

By: Jake Weiner

The Swish

The NBA2K24 Summer League is off to a great start. But although we do not get to see the usual NBA all-stars like LeBron James and Stephen Curry, we do get a first look at young up-and-comers and NBA rookies. We saw Victor Wembanyama play a couple of games before ending his summer league season. We also have seen players that missed the prior season like Chet Holmgren of the Oklahoma City Thunder. We will now give an in-depth report on each team in the NBA with players that will be on the NBA roster, surprises, and players who have not been playing to their expectations.

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS

The 76ers have played a total of 4 games so far with a very unique roster that includes players such as Azoulas Tubelis, Rickey Council IV, and even some older players like Louis King. They have tallied a 1-3 record with a win versus the Jazz and losses to the Hawks, Clippers and Mavericks.

TAKEAWAYS:

This roster has played some good basketball so far with some elite scoring from Jaden Springer and Terquavion Smith. If we had to pick a team MVP it would be Jaden Springer who could get some minutes this season in the NBA. Filip Petrusev has been impressive with very efficient numbers and great interior defense. Although Javonte Smart has been putting up high scoring and assist numbers, he has been incredibly inconsistent with very low +/- per game numbers in the low negatives and will most likely be put on a two-way deal. Our most surprising player is Jordan Tucker who has been very efficient when playing.
