The 2023 NBA Draft will be one for the ages filled with top prospects including maybe the biggest prospect the NBA has ever seen: Victor Wembenyama. The terrific talent pool with Victor, Scoot Henderson, Ausar and Amen Thompson, Brandon Miller, and hopefully some big trades will be an exciting event to watch. The unpredictability of the NBA Draft and the constant amount of pressure on general managers to keep their fan bases pleased will be awesome to watch and we at The Swish will now do a mock draft with no trades and provide a quick summary of who the prospect is and where they fit into their new NBA teams. We will give a comparison to how they played before the NBA and then who they will compare to in the NBA.

—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Brandon Miller was one of the best players in college basketball this season and would have been the number-one pick if it was not for Victor. Besides his whole incident with being involved in a murder, he is everything you need for an NBA team. The Hornets would benefit from having an athletic forward to help surround Lamelo Ball and Miller is the guy to get the job done.

Scoot Henderson is the best point guard in this draft and offers up lots of athleticism and potential for whoever drafts him. He has a great shot and can do it all. He would be a great fit in Portland if they were to get rid of Anfernee Simons or Damian Lillard, but in the end, Scoot could be an All-Star very soon.

Amen Thompson is an elite basketball player with lots of potential for his young age and a huge amount of athleticism. He could be a bigger Ja Morant with some Shaun Livingston and Penny Hardaway influence in him, and if he can get his shot down, he could be an elite NBA player as well. He fits well into Houstons’ roster as a small forward and can start right away at the three, or could possibly be the sixth man playing behind Jabari Smith or Tari Eason.

Jarace Walker was an elite forward in college basketball highlighting the elite Houston Cougars team alongside draft prospect Marcus Sasser. Walker is a versatile, efficient big man who can defend, facilitate, and score at a high level. He could have an immediate impact on this young but shaky Pistons roster being led by star Cade Cunningham and young players like newly acquired James Wisemen, Jalen Duren, and Jaden Ivey. We see Walker as having a solid developmental bench role for this team as a backup for Jalen Duren as a 7th or 8th man and working his way up.

Anthony Black would be a huge get for this Magic team who has two young stars in Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero, and other weapons such as Markelle Fult and Wendell Carter Jr. The Magic have tested out drafting a young guard such as Jalen Suggs, but they need a real point guard who is selfless, defensive minded, and a facilitating pass first guard. When you hear the word pass first guard in this draft class, you should immediately think of Anthony Black. He is a tall point guard with many strengths on defense and the ability to be an immediate start in the NBA for his selflessness and ability to impact an offense by conducting and getting players open. He could be a starter for this Magic team or potentially backup Markelle Fultz as a 6th man.
